The SFM
members are dedicated to sharing their experiences
of building and flying radio controlled
replicas of full-sized aircraft. Every year,
the SFM collaborates with area R/C Clubs to
sponsor and/or support their individual Scale Fly-ins,
as well as Minnesota's Scale Masters
Qualifier. During the winter months, SFM holds monthly meetings on the last Friday of the
month. At our meetings we
share documenting, building, finishing, detailing
and have open discussions on the flying techniques unique to scale
modeling.
The SFM includes several
members who have placed in or won the
AMA NATS Scale National Championships and have
regularly competed at
Top Gun and the
Scale Masters
Invitational's.
Several SFM members models have
appeared in all major model magazines and appear
regularly at major fly-in across the United States.
Our Scale Programs
have included
panel-line detailing, air-brushing, weathering,
insignia painting, documentation research,
static-judging, scratch building, plan drafting,
model selection, composite kit design, installation of retracts,
lettering, and much more.
Show and tell has included
Wayne Siewert's NATS-winning Mooney, Joe
Grice's Top Gun-winning F100, Jim Jacobson's
Toledo-winning Wildcat, Jess Larsen's Top
Gun-winning Stearman, Dan Schmidt's DH-1 and many
more models from fun scale to museum scale.
Meeting visitors are welcome!
